Parenting Therapy

Parenting brings big emotional swings for both parent and child. If those swings feel hard to control, it may be time to seek support. Participating in therapy is one of the most effective ways to build the mindset, strategies and emotional baseline for calm, confident parenting.

IS PARENTING FEELING OVERWHELMING?

  • You repeatedly find yourself in the same conflicts or power-struggles with your child.

  • You feel anxious, guilty, or unsure after parenting moments (e.g., “I yelled again,” “I didn’t handle that right”).

  • You worry about your child’s emotional wellbeing (e.g., frequent meltdowns, withdrawal, or sibling rivalry) and how to respond.

  • You want a more fulfilling parent-child relationship: deeper connection, less frustration, more joy.

BALANCE, CONNECTION AND CONFIDENCE ARE WITHIN REACH

If raising children feels more stressful than joyful, you’re not alone.

Parenting is one of life’s most important roles, yet it often comes with anxiety, guilt, conflict, and unspoken pressure. At Stark Wellness Clinic, our Parenting Therapy services help you strengthen your connection with your child, reduce daily stress, and build a parenting style that reflects your values and your child’s needs.

WELCOME TO PARENTING THERAPY AT STARK WELLNESS CLINIC

At our Toronto-based clinic, we offer inclusive, non-judgmental spaces (in-person and virtual) where you can explore your unique parenting journey. Whether you are a new parent, parenting a pre-schooler, navigating the tween/teen years, or co-parenting across households — we tailor the process to your needs.

What to expect in your initial consultation

  • A 20-minute free consultation where you’ll share your parenting concerns and goals.

  • Together we’ll explore how your child’s behaviour, your emotions, your family history, and your daily environment all interact.

  • We’ll co-create a customised plan that aligns with your values, time-availability, and parenting vision.

Common goals in parenting therapy

  • Reduce daily conflict and increase cooperative, calm interactions.

  • Improve emotional regulation for both you and your child.

  • Build positive parenting habits: routines, transitions, boundaries, praise and connection.

  • Develop practical tools for sibling rivalry, screen time, school stress, and other parenting challenges.

  • Support you through major parenting transitions: new baby, blended family, teen independence, separation/co-parenting.

We use evidence-based approaches

Our therapists are trained in methods proven to support parenting and family systems:

CBT Icon

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): helps identify unhelpful thoughts (e.g., “I’m a bad parent”) and reshape them into constructive beliefs and actions.

CBT Icon

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): supports accepting inevitable parenting discomfort and taking values-based action.

CBT Icon

Emotion‑focused Family Therapy (EFFT): strengthens the emotional bond between parent and child, and helps process strong feelings.

CBT Icon

Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS): helps you understand internal parts (e.g., the “angry parent”, “overwhelmed parent”, “compassionate parent”) and integrate them.

CBT Icon

Parenting-specific modules: routines, behaviour scaffolding, positive discipline, mindful transitions, sibling dynamics.

We tailor our combination of interventions to match your goals, your child’s age, and your family’s pattern.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it mean I’m doing a bad job as a parent?
Not at all. Parenting is hard, every parent struggles at times. Therapy isn’t about finding fault; it’s about building support, awareness and skill so you can parent in a way that reflects your best intentions.

Will the therapy fix all my child’s behaviour?
Therapy helps you build tools and mindset shifts and it improves the parent-child relationship, which in turn often changes behaviour. But children still develop, grow and test boundaries. Our goal is stronger connection and resilience, not perfection.

How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your goals, the age of your child, and your family’s complexity. Some parents notice better communication and fewer meltdowns within 6-8 sessions; for deeper systemic change, 12-16 sessions or more may be ideal. Every plan is custom-designed.

Do you do online-therapy?
Yes. We offer both in-person sessions at our Toronto location and virtual sessions across Ontario. The platform is secure, confidential, and convenient, especially when juggling parenting demands.
